I decided to focus on student data as my professional development plan last year. I made a teacher data binder and student data wall. Neither one turned out how I anticipated. The data binder contained too much data. It looked pretty, but too scattered - couldn't see growth.
I plan to focus on 2 areas for student data this year - Math Facts and Sight Words. I feel that these are the two areas my students didn't master as well as I wanted them to. So, these are going to be my focus areas this year.
I bought Jan Richardson's The Next Step in Guided Reading in 2010. Read portions of the book and loved the ideas. But, with the whole fidelity to the reading program thing, I put it aside. I found it when cleaning my classroom this summer. I still love the ideas in this book - plan on actually using them this time!
I love her lesson plan forms in the book, but I needed them to be more "kinder style." So, I added a little "cuteness" to them.
Finally finished my personal lesson plan template. It is editable since I'm sure it will change 100 times! I wanted to "copy" Deedee Wills and make visual lesson plans, too much this year. Maybe next.
I have already updated my Guided Reading Level aa pack. Some in part due to requests, but also because it just didn't look right to me. Anyway if you downloaded it, go and download again. Looks much better!
